A Litany of Magnanimity
Come, O Great Holy Spirit of God. Fill the hearts of thy faithful and kindle in them the fire of Thy Great Love. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created. And thou shalt renew the face of the Earth.
O Jesus, master dreamer, and magnanimous in charity, truth, and action, grant that in discovering first the frailty and weakness of our humanity in humility, we may then receive a greater power not our own, to realize your Dream for this fallen world, to the greater glory of God.
That I may possess a greatness of Spirit, Inspire me, O Jesus.
That I may live and pray with largeness of heart, Inspire me, O Jesus.
That I may count your greatness alongside my weakness, Inspire me, O Jesus.
That I may generously act for the good of all, Inspire me, O Jesus.
That I may pursue my dreams insofar as they fulfill Your Great Dreams, Inspire me, O Jesus.
That I may grow in humble confidence to the point of audacity in Your goodness, Inspire me, O Jesus.
That I may aspire to be a great saint, Inspire me, O Jesus.
That I may work to inspire others to the Greater (the Magis), Inspire me, O Jesus.
From the temptation of playing small out of fear and pusillanimity, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of failure, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of being rejected, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the fear of making personal sacrifice for the good of others, Deliver me, O Jesus.
From the temptation to inaction and slothfulness, Deliver me, O Jesus.
That I may work not to further my own goals but that of the Great Commission,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That I may subject every captive thought to the authority of Jesus and His Church,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That I may be possessed by the Spirit of Abandonment, to do whatever He tells me,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
Let us pray.
O God, who has called imperfect sinners to collaborate with Your perfect Spirit, grant to those who would call themselves the least of the saints Your great Grace to bring the goodness of the boundless riches of Christ to the whole world. May You grant that we be strengthened in our inner being with power through Your Great Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. May we be filled with the utter fullness of God.
Now to Thee who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to Thee be the glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, for ever and ever. Amen.
